Early symphonies seem fresher, more candid and inventive. This performance cleverly brings all these qualities out.

I have just returned to this symphony and seen that I have not appended Haydn’s thoughts on the ordering of the six ‘Paris’ symphonies, which for those listening to them as a set are worth repeating here. The Artaria/Mandyczewski/ Hoboken ordering of 82-87 makes no musical, artistic or coherent sense, and is entirely arbitrary. Haydn wrote to his Viennese publisher Artaria from Eszterhaza 2 August 1787: ‘Last time I forgot to indicate the order of the [‘Paris’] symphonies which should be engraved as follows:’ Haydn then lists them by key in the following order: *87 85 83 84 86 82.* That Haydn took the trouble to correct the omission of his forgetfulness indicates that it was important to him, and therefore is worth noting by us today. The correct sequence is almost certainly chronological, and makes a better musical sequence, ending like Mozart’s Symphonies 39-41, and Michael Haydn’s Symphonies 34-39 (both 1788) with the C major symphony. Hope this is of interest to those listening to these six fine works as a group.

Слушая произведения ,оценивая их ,много лет,я прихожу к выводу,что величие Моцарта,Гайдна слишком завышено,да Реквием Моцарта никто не превзошел,но не более того, очень много достойных произведений,не в чем не уступающих.. А,то, ой мы там Моцарта услышали,а там Рамо с Глюком проскочили,ерунда это все в одном котле варились...

Estupendo aperitivo musical para despertar.

Man spielt historisch informiert und auf entsprechenden Instrumenten. Die ausladenden (und für meinen Geschmack übertriebenen) Gesten des Dirigenten passen nicht dazu. Sollte Haydn so dirigiert haben? Überhaupt ein Kapellmeister im 18. Jahrhundert? Wo Maß und Mitte, Geschmack und Grazie eher das Ideal waren?

Finalmente per la prima volta si vede una grande esecuzione dal vivo di questa dimenticata ma bella sinfonia ma che rimane tra le mie preferite! In particolare Haydn nel primo movimento, come non mai, riesce a passare da un clima giocoso tipo filastrocca ad uno impetuoso, drammatico; due momenti umorali in antitesi, ma tutto si fonde in maniera perfetta e inebriante!

Das Göttliche! - leider von einem BARBAREN! mitten in den letzten Minuten durch seine "Werbung" zerstört der offensichtlich die Zuschauer für Vollidioten hält denen er auf diesem Wege seine "Produkte" aufdrängen kann. Seine Beschränntheit ist nur durch eine gerichtliche Klage des Produzenten zu bremsen.

Afirmar que êste conjunto é maravilhoso, é pouco, mas discordo da utilização da Viola da Gamba (Cello sem o espigão), embora reconheça que, na gamba, a sonoridade é mais aveludada mas, convenhamos, o sistema "na Gamba" é desconfortável, e a diferença sonora não chega a compensar esse desconforto. Voltando ao conjunto maravilhoso, não se pode deixar de reconhecer a contribuição absoluta da maestria do regente Giovanni Antonini. Grato pela postagem.
